Farm News: Web site helper Leonel here.  I was on vacation and didn’t post week 12’s newsletter.  My apologies for any inconvenience and confusion this may have caused.  What follows is the newsletter as sent by Lupita and Adam via email for the week of August 27, 2012.  Enjoy!

Come out to the farm for the watermelon feed this weekend- Saturday, September 1st from 10am to 1pm. Bring a chair if you’d like.  The farm address is 42199 Ottawa Road.  We will have a few watermelon contests/games with prizes.  We hope to share the day with you!

Recipes and Tips

Running out of ways to cook eggplant?  Yesterday at the Minnesota Cooks stage, the chef from Foxy Falafel prepared Falafels with cubed eggplant, which was fried.  We wishwe had the recipe to share.

Quick Raw Salsa

Makes about 3/4.  Chop up 2-3 small to medium tomatoes, sliced jalapeño or hot wax pepper (remove seeds for mild), juice from 1 to 2 limes, one garlic clove, and salt to taste. Blend and puree.  Serve over rice, and beans, or scrambled eggs or simply dip with organic blue corn chips.  Garnish with your favorite shredded Minnesota cheese.
